Why calculate YouTube playlist duration?
Students use this tool to plan study schedules before watching lecture series — knowing a 30-video course takes 12 hours at 1× but only 8 hours at 1.5× helps you fit learning into your week. Professionals estimate how long online courses take to complete. Casual viewers decide if a playlist fits their afternoon.
Our calculator fetches real video durations from YouTube's official API, so results are always accurate even for playlists with hundreds of videos.
Does this work with private playlists?
No — only public playlists can be calculated. Private and unlisted playlists require login access which this tool doesn't have.
What's the maximum playlist size it can handle?
The tool can handle playlists of any size — it fetches videos in batches of 50 and paginates through the entire playlist automatically, whether it has 10 or 1,000 videos.
How do I find the playlist URL?
Open any YouTube playlist → copy the URL from your browser. It should contain "list=" followed by letters and numbers. You can also right-click a playlist in the YouTube sidebar and copy the link.
